Version Update 19.10: The Next Era Starts Here

Greetings Colonists,

With our last development update, we showed you where Entropia Universe is heading.

With Version Update 19.10, you will begin experiencing part of that future for yourself.

This is one of the most significant updates we have made on the road to Unreal Engine 5. It introduces an entirely new generation of avatars, a new Character Creator, a major Auction rework, a new interactive 3D Map, reworked Chat and Message Center systems, new crosshairs and rifle scopes, extensive graphical improvements, and much more.

More importantly, many of these systems have been created for both the current and upcoming clients. They have already been tested directly inside Unreal Engine 5, turning this update into a real, playable bridge between the Entropia Universe of today and the universe we are building for tomorrow.

The next era is no longer a distant concept. It is beginning now.

Meet the Next Generation of Colonists

Every player will enter the new Character Creator upon their first login following the update, giving the entire community the opportunity to create a new identity using our completely reworked character technology.

This is far more than a visual refresh. Our new avatars have been created to deliver greater graphical fidelity, improved animation and a much broader foundation for future customisation.

Many hairstyles have been completely rebuilt with higher-fidelity models, improved shaders and more natural physics. Character materials, facial animation, lighting and shadow interaction have also been substantially reworked.

Existing clothing and equipment have been adapted for the new character system, preserving the enormous wardrobe and history players have built throughout more than two decades of Entropia Universe.

We cannot wait to see the new generation of Colonists our community creates.

One Interface, Two Clients

Large parts of the interface have been reskinned, rebuilt and converted from Flash to Chromium.

These are not temporary interfaces that will be discarded when Unreal Engine 5 arrives. They are being developed for direct compatibility with both versions of the game and have already been tested inside our Unreal Engine client.

That means every converted window brings the current experience forward while simultaneously preparing the foundations of the next client.

Performance has also been a core focus throughout the conversion. We have increased interface responsiveness and rendering speed, reduced memory usage, and made advanced animations much more efficient, allowing them to use less of the game’s frame-time budget.

These interfaces will become even faster and better optimised in the Unreal Engine 5 client, where Chromium is supported natively by the engine. This enables much tighter integration and allows more resources to remain focused on gameplay and rendering the universe around you.

Version Update 19.10 brings this new technology to the Auction, maps, Chat, Message Center, crosshairs, rifle scopes and numerous supporting windows.

The Auction, Rebuilt

Trading sits at the heart of the Entropian economy, and the Auction has received one of its largest usability updates yet.
The new Auction makes it faster and easier to price items, manage listings and reach the market result you are looking for.

Sell Smarter

  • Sell to Best Order: Sell a queued item directly to the highest matching buy order, with the price verified again before confirmation.
  • Apply Lowest Comparable: Price an item using the current lowest comparable buyout with a single click.
  • Market Information: Day, week and month markup information and sales volume are displayed directly on each staged selling row.
  • Markup Entry: Enter prices as markup percentages instead of PED, with your preferred mode remembered between sessions.

Build and Submit an Entire Sell Queue

Multiple items can now be prepared inside a single selling queue. Quantity, opening bid, buyout and duration can be configured independently for each item before submitting the entire batch with visible progress.

Partial stacks can also be listed directly. Choose how many units you want to sell and the Auction will split and list them automatically.

Protection Against Costly Mistakes

The new selling workflow introduces additional safeguards against accidental underpricing.

Players are warned before listing items below their value or recent market levels. Multi-unit listings priced substantially below the best matching buy order also require explicit confirmation.

These warnings, together with the Sell to Best Order confirmation, now appear directly inside the Auction window, keeping the entire process clear and visible.

Create and Sell Your Own Item Sets

Version Update 19.10 also introduces the craftable Quantum Set Capsule, a new single-use container that allows complete item configurations to be sold through the Auction as one inspectable listing.

Players can assemble their own compatible seven-piece armour set and sell it as a complete package, rather than listing every piece individually. A weapon can also be packaged together with its fitted attachments and sold as a complete configuration.

Buyers can inspect everything contained inside a sealed capsule before purchasing it. Opening the capsule transfers all contained items to the buyer and consumes the capsule itself.

This is the beginning of a much broader item-set system, and we intend to expand it with further possibilities in future updates.

See the Universe from a New Perspective

The Map has been rebuilt to show the worlds of Entropia Universe in ways the previous system simply could not.

A new real-time interactive 3D mode allows players to explore terrain, settlements, destinations and waypoints from an entirely new perspective.

The reworked technology can present more precise locations for mission NPCs, dynamic events and other important activity throughout the world, making the Map a much more powerful tool for exploration.

This is a foundation we can continue expanding as the universe grows, both in the current client and in Unreal Engine 5.

Faster, Clearer Communication

Chat has moved from Flash to a unified Chromium interface with a much leaner message system. New lines append directly instead of rebuilding entire chat histories, removing the previous delay and keeping conversations responsive as they grow.

The new interface delivers clearer text, appearance controls, rearrangeable tabs, visible keyboard helpers, Alt+1–9 navigation, a character counter and a live / command palette.

The Message Center has also been completely redesigned with a clearer ledger-style layout, permanent filters, visible unread totals and number-key shortcuts. Mail, notes, Auction activity and system messages now open in dedicated full-width reading views.

New Crosshairs and Rifle Scopes

Crosshairs and rifle-scope interfaces have been rebuilt with sharper visuals, improved readability and a more consistent design.

These changes provide clearer feedback during combat while moving more of the gameplay interface onto the same modern technology being prepared for Unreal Engine 5.

A Better-Looking Universe at Every Setting

Our rendering technology has also received extensive attention, from low settings through to the highest available graphical presets.
MSAA 2×, 4× and 8× can now be enabled while using Low graphical settings. This allows players to maintain relatively modest settings while significantly reducing jagged edges and visual grain.

For players who want to push graphical fidelity further, High and Very High settings have also been increased with improved lighting, shadows and environmental presentation.

Numerous graphical issues involving world lighting, shadows and their interaction with the new avatars have been corrected. SSAO has also been reintroduced with a reworked implementation, becoming especially prominent at higher settings.

The result is a cleaner image at lower settings and a richer, more detailed universe at the highest ones.

This Is Only the Beginning

Version Update 19.10 is a major release, but it is not the final stage of our interface transformation.

In the coming weeks, we will continue refining and optimising the new systems while introducing additional quality-of-life features. New Inventory, Storage and Heads-Up Display reworks are already on the way, continuing the move toward a crisper, clearer and more responsive experience.

Once the full interface has been converted, we also intend to introduce proper UI scaling for players using resolutions above or below the current fixed 1920×1080 layout, alongside a much wider range of customisation options.

Everything introduced here, including the characters, interfaces, maps and supporting technology, is part of our dual-client preparation.

This is not simply a reskin, and it is not work that will be left behind. It is the technology that connects the persistent universe players have shaped for more than two decades with the Unreal Engine 5 client scheduled for release before Christmas 2026.

The road to Unreal Engine 5 is becoming something you can see, touch and experience.
Version Update 19.10 is where that future begins.
